What is 3G Technology

What is 3G ?

3G (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access or HSDPA) ?
3G stand for the third generation of mobile communication.3G enable us  to simultaneously transfer both voice data (a telephone call) and non-voice data (such as downloading information, exchanging e-mail, and instant messaging. The highlight of 3G is video telephony.

I have noticed one thing that most of people always says that 3G is technology for video call only  and for a handset being 3G there must be a front camera. This is not purely true.Video call can be made over 2G network also but 3G provide streaming very clear due to high speed and it is not necessary to have front camera on 3G handset. 3G technology provide you high data transfer speed upto 57Mbps and hence you can enjoy video call, live TV online games etc which require high bandwidth.
With the help of 3G, we can access many new services too. One such service is the GLOBAL ROAMING. Another thing to be noted in case of 3G is that Wide Band Voice Channel that is by this the world has been contracted to a little village because a person can contact with other person located in any part of the world and can even send messages too. Then the point to be noted is that 3G gives clarity of voice as well can talk with out any disturbance. Not only these but also have entertainments such as Fast Communication, Internet, Mobile T.V, Video Conferencing, Video Calls, Multi Media Messaging Service (MMS), 3D gaming, Multi-Gaming etc are also available with 3G phones.
3G was firsly launched in 2001 in Japan by NTT DOCOMO, a Japanese telecom company. Japan was the first country to introduce 3G on a large commercial scale. In 2005, about 40 per cent of subscribers used only 3G networks. There are about 60 3G networks across 25 countries
India launched 3G service on 11 Dec 2008 in Delhi and later in Mumbai. MTNL (Govt of India undertaking ) become first company to launch it .Later on another Govt under taking state company BSNL start 3G service on Feb 22,2009 in Chennai and lateron in whole country.3G spectrum allocated to all private operator on September 2010, there after 3G launched by all major private telecome company.TATA lauched with joint venture of Japanese company DOCOMO first private sectors 3G network in Novemeber 2010. All the operators provide 3G services on the 2100 MHz band. As of now, the Government owned BSNL is the most successful company with the maximum subscribers of 3G service. It has more than 3 million subscribers of its 3G service
